Thoughts on Stan Kroenke at Arsenal??

I don’t really know what to make of the inevitable and impending takeover of Arsenal by American Billionaire Stan Kroenke. The fact he has earned himself a massive wealth will make calling him a successful man a bit of an understatement.

We get reminded of his net worth and assets every so often that we can probably all get A’s in exams on Kroenke asset history fresh from a binge. I don’t so much as care about his wealth but more about the effect he is going to have on the club.

Kroenke owns other sporting “franchise” in the US and they are run effectively for all I have been able to glen; my thoughts go towards the financial implication his take over would have; would we be richer or a poorer club for it? well in terms of debt.

Kroenke has indeed been tight lipped; and I feel is going about his business the way a proper business man should – slow steady and authoritative. But when he does take over what changes is he going to want to enforce on the club? These changes I worry about could determine the longevity of the manager at the club. Will David Dein return in some capacity at the club – if you remember he was the one who championed Kroenke’s cause at the start – would that be good news considering we’ve had stability in the board room so far.

I very much doubt that Kroenke is a big fan of Arsenal football but I could be wrong as he is a big sport fan himself and could have fallen in love with our alluring football filled with joie de vivre and guile. He could seek to create a bigger revenue stream for Arsenal by improving the brand and image in the US; which is very much within his prowess.

Just on the fun side; with the issue of naming rights making the news these days and Kroenke's history with shopping plaza's, would we have to live with a name change to our stadium; could the gunners be playing at the Wal-Mart Arena or even the Tesco extra park; North London Derby at Waitrose stadium but surely not Asda Arena.

If and when he does take over; I’m sure all Arsenal fans will join me in hoping he’s more Randy Lerner and less of those two from Liverpool, less of the Birmingham guy, less of the Glazers; a mix of Lerner, Abramovich and “The” Sheik won’t be bad… well Wenger might not like all the money.

If Sheik reminded you of Pompey you have serious problems; look for some rich friends or go on a spending spree!!! - you

What do you think about the impending takeover of Arsenal?
